BOOKING DIRECTLY WITH THE OWNER

Cancellation & Refund Policy

We know plans can change. This policy applies to every stay at McKai B13 booked directly with the owner, and it is part of your booking terms.

1. Confirming your stay

  • Sending an enquiry does not reserve the dates. Your stay is confirmed only when we have accepted your request, received your deposit and sent you written confirmation by email.
  • A deposit of 50% of the total rental is due to confirm your booking. The balance is due 30 days before arrival.
  • If you book within 30 days of arrival, the full rental is due when you book.
  • If the balance is not received by the due date, we may treat the booking as cancelled by you under section 2.

2. If you cancel

Please tell us in writing by email to stay@mckai.ky. The date we receive your email is the cancellation date.

  • 60 days or more before arrival: full refund of payments made, less a $100 administration fee.
  • 30 to 59 days before arrival: 50% of the total rental is refunded.
  • Less than 30 days before arrival, or no-show: no refund.

If you cancel with less than 60 days’ notice and we are able to rebook the same dates, we will refund the amount we rebook, less the $100 administration fee.

3. Changing your dates

  • We will try to move your booking to new dates, subject to availability and any difference in rate.
  • One change made 30 days or more before arrival is free of charge.
  • Changes requested less than 30 days before arrival are treated as a cancellation under section 2.

4. Late arrival and early departure

We are unable to refund nights that are not used because of a late arrival, early departure or change in travel plans.

5. Hurricanes and severe weather

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November. If, within 72 hours before your arrival or during your stay, the Cayman Islands Government or National Weather Service issues a hurricane warning for Grand Cayman, or Owen Roberts International Airport is closed, we will offer you a choice of:

  • new dates within 12 months, subject to availability; or
  • a refund for the nights you are unable to use.

A hurricane watch, a forecast or a general concern about weather does not qualify on its own.

6. Travel insurance

We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers trip cancellation, interruption and weather-related delays, as it can protect you in situations this policy does not.

7. If we need to cancel

In the rare event that we must cancel your stay, for example because the condo becomes unavailable, we will refund all payments you have made in full. Our responsibility is limited to that refund.

8. Damage and house rules

Guests are responsible for the condo and its contents during their stay. Damage beyond normal wear, missing items or breaches of the house rules, including the smoke- and vape-free rule, may result in charges.

9. How refunds are paid

Refunds are made to the original payment method, or as agreed with you, within 14 days of the cancellation date.
